Sarah is a Nigerian multidisciplinary artist based in Calgary. She is a set and costume designer in theatre and a filmmaker – director, writer, and producer. Her short films have won several awards and have been screened in various festivals around the world. She has also designed sets and costumes for theatre productions all over Canada. Select design credits are Death and the King’s Horseman, Wedding Band (Stratford Festival); Trouble in Mind (MTC & Citadel Theatre); The Mountaintop, The Fiancée (Persephone Theatre); Steel Magnolia (Theatre Calgary). As an immigrant, she is inspired by the experiences of African and Black communities and desires to amplify under-told and untold stories that inspire communal unity. Select film directing credits are Catharsis, To Belong, and Home. Sarah is interested in directing for theatre and enjoys creative collaborations and storytelling. Sarah is also the creator and host of the Afros in the Diaspora Podcast.
