Application and audition requirements

Who can apply?

Applications are open to instrumentalists and conductors aged 18+ who are completing their performance degree and are on the audition circuit or are in the early stages of their orchestral career. Conducting applicants should have a wide knowledge of orchestral repertoire. 

Librarian and orchestra personnel manager candidates must be Canadian and aged 18+ with some experience in or understanding of these roles. Ideal candidates are seeking to further their knowledge, to hone their skills, and to gain valuable hands-on experience with a professional orchestra.


How to apply

  • Step 1
    Instrumentalists: Record your audition materials in a video format and upload to YouTube. Review the Audition recording guidelines to ensure your submission meets the criteria.
     
    Conductors: Select your best conducting video of a live rehearsal or performance recorded in the past 12 months and upload it to YouTube.
     
  • Step 2
    All candidates: Complete and submit your application form (including application fee) by 4 pm EST on January 27, 2025. Early-bird application fee is $40 until November 15. Regular application fee is $60 after November 15.
     
    All candidates must submit a CV, a copy of their diploma or transcript of marks, and two character references. 
     
    Conducting candidates must also submit a repertoire list and a statement of philosophy.
