Allain Roy has worked as an assistant director and stage manager with several directors, including Robert Lepage, Brigitte Haentjens and Denis Marleau. In 2009, he returned to his home province of New Brunswick, where since November 2018 he has been the artistic director of the Théâtre populaire d’Acadie. For his first production for the company, he assembled a team of Acadian artists to stage a theatrical version of Jonathan Roy’s poetry collection Savèches à fragmentation.

Allain Roy has a solid background of skills and experience in the theatre industry. He graduated from the National Theatre School in the production department, where he also spent ten years teaching. He has been an assistant director and stage manager for numerous companies in Quebec (over 130 productions) in addition to touring in Canada and Europe. He has collaborated with several directors including Robert Lepage, Martine Beaulne, René-Richard Cyr, Brigitte Haentjens, Denis Marleau and Jean-Pierre Ronfard.
In 2009, he returned to his home in New-Brunswick. He signed the artistic direction of various special projects such as the musical theater Louis Mailloux produced by the Compagnie Viola-Léger and the oratorio The Valley of Possibilities, presented by the Cultural Society of the Memramcook Valley in collaboration with the New Brunswick Symphony Orchestra.
Since November 2018, he has been artistic director and co-general manager of the Théâtre populaire d'Acadie.
Diplômé de l’École nationale de théâtre section production, où il a d’ailleurs été enseignant une dizaine d’année, Allain Roy possède un solide bagage de compétences et d’expériences dans le milieu théâtral. Il a été assistant metteur en scène et régisseur pour nombreuses compagnies au Québec (au-delà de 130 productions) en plus de faire des tournées au Canada et en Europe. Il a collaboré avec plusieurs metteurs en scène dont; Robert Lepage, Martine Beaulne, René-Richard Cyr, Brigitte Haentjens, Denis Marleau et Jean-Pierre Ronfard.
En 2009, il revient s’établir chez lui en Acadie. Il fait de la direction artistique sur des projets spéciaux comme le théâtre musical Louis Mailloux produit par la Compagnie Viola-Léger et l’oratorio La vallée des possibles, présenté par la Société culturelle de la Vallée de Memramcook en collaboration avec l’Orchestre symphonique du Nouveau-Brunswick.
Depuis novembre 2018, il est directeur artistique et codirecteur général du Théâtre populaire d’Acadie.
